Why create a gallery here?

Nérac has a remarkable cultural identity, historic architecture and an active artistic community. The project seeks to build on those strengths rather than compete with them.

A place with character

The historic fabric of the building is part of the experience. Rather than hiding its age behind a generic contemporary interior, the gallery can allow the architecture to become part of the exhibition environment.

A place for people

The proposal combines exhibitions with artisan demonstrations, workshops, research and community activity. The result is intended to be a cultural space that people can return to, not simply a room they visit once.
